Super 8 (2011)
A group of kids witness a train crash while filming a zombie movie. They begin to notice things are weird in their small town and begin to investigate, only to discover something beyond their imagination.
This film is great. It was full of old traditions that most modern cinema is lacking. It brought up emotions and feelings that only films like E.T, Jaws or Alien could do. I love movies where you don’t see the thing or whatever it is until the end, it makes my mind go crazy trying to piece together the little images we get through the film and Super 8 is no exception. It is a great puzzle.
The cast are exceptional, and I really look forward to seeing these kids in future films where their acting talents can shine. Yes the group of kids in Super 8 are no Goonies but they nail the lovable factor perfectly.
This isn’t a perfect movie however. I don’t wanna say anything too unforgiving but the ending I felt was too much of a give away and removed a lot of the mystery established by the beautifully woven first act.
A great summer film and a refreshing traditional tale. With a great group of characters and a perfect couple of acts this is not one to miss.
