Inception (2010) Using a machine to enter peoples dreams Cobb (DiCaprio) plans to plant an idea into the mind of one of the worlds most powerful men. Over the weekend I went and saw this along with Toy Story 3 as a sort of double feature and boy what a day! What a weekend! What a summer! This is one of those films that quickly becomes a unique part of cinematic history. It’s reception feels similar to that of when The Matrix was first seen by the public or when Nolan’s own The Dark Knight was released over two years go, Inception is truly a work of art and I was captivated by the entire show. The cast were beautifully picked and their chemistry on screen is mesmerizing. DiCaprio is my favourite actor and I tend to love his work in everything he does but this is up with the best, he is phenomenal throughout. The remaining cast are perfect and all give 10/10 performances especially Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the wonderful Arthur. The music and editing are great, Hans Zimmers score is loud and booming adding to the films feel of constant urgency. There were a few odd handy cam moments towards the beginning of the film when the fights kick off but it wasn’t too over the top or in the way. I could sit here and really write all night about how top notch this film is but on here I like to keep it short and sweet. Inception is a film you need to see at the cinema just to say you did, so get off your arse and go see it! A truly breath-taking film. Darn you Nolan you’ve done it again.
