Predators (2010)

“Over here…” A select group of people find themselves on another planet being hunted for sport by a notorious group of aliens known to you and I as Predators.

This is the film we’ve been waiting for all these years! After two dismal gimmicks that raped both franchises the Predator is back and boy what a comeback. Right from the get go this is something rather special. Firstly the main thing that makes this film is the overall respect the creators have for this fragile franchise and they’ve hit the nail on the head with Predators plucking all the right strings they’ve truly made a great (and most of all worthy) sequel. 

The pacing is spot on it’s a roller coater right from the very opening, you’re in this horrible place with them and it’s tag-line “Fear is reborn” really does live up to it’s name. The acting surprised me the most, it’s excellent and it’s a macho Brody who really nails his character and steals the show. The others are brilliant too and it’s such a relief to see a new Predator film where you actually feel for the characters you’re watching. 

The only slightly disappointing thing about the movie was it’s ending (which for obvious reasons I can’t give away.) But I felt so invested in these characters that it was disappointing only because I wanted to know what happens to them!

Predators really feels like it was made over a decade ago and that is what’s so great about it. Yes it’s not the most original or high quality film out there and yes it plays on old tricks from it’s predecessor but they don’t make films like this any more and as an old fan of the franchise ever since I glance Predator at the tender age of five I can say it’s very satisfying to go to the cinema and see the Predators kicking butt once again. 

It’s been a long time coming but this has been worth it. Predators is an action treat and generally a great film all round, can’t wait for the blu-ray and hopefully an extended edition, fingers crossed!
