Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)
Jack Sparrow takes center stage as he embarks on an adventure to find the fountain of youth. Only to discover that the infamous pirate Blackbeard, his daughter and Captain Hector Barbossa are after the same thing.
The Pirates of the Caribbean films are the 21st century Indiana Jones, Jack Sparrow is the modern day Indy and finally after three films he takes on the role of the main character…yes the main character! Remember people, William Turner is the main protagonist in the first three…remember? Anyway this is the first film where Jack Sparrow is in the spot light and boy does he take us on the journey.
On Stranger Tides feels much like the 1st Pirates of the Caribbean movie, it’s not as epic as 2 and 3 which is a good turn for the franchise. Don’t get me wrong I love Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End but they seemed to detach a little from the simple story telling that the original had but number 4 reboots the series with a down to earth story of four parties fighting for the same prize.
What can I say about the cast except they all hit every mark perfectly, especially Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, who for me, seems to steal every scene he is in because (as we all are aware) he is the sterotypical pirate and that is what I love about him.
On Stranger Tides is a brilliant film, not as classic as the first but I prefer it over 2 and 3. Well worth seeing. AAARRRR!
