Sucker Punch (2011)
A girl is sent to a mental asylum by her step father whereabouts she escapes with the aid and power of her imagination.
Zack Snyder has made another cinematic gem. Sucker Punch is an original romp through several visual worlds that can’t help but make you smile. So okay this isn’t as classic as Snyder’s screen adaption of Watchmen but it is still a magazine clip of fun; and it’ll keep your attention throughout.
Emily Browning was a great choice for the protagonist Baby Doll, although she could have had more lines to show her skills as an actress, she still sells it. Abbie Cornish and Jena Malone as Sweet Pea and Rocket are the real stars who’s on screen relationship makes you care for these tragic girls.
Sucker Punch is all Zack Snyder’s style. Slow motion, glossy effects and grand visuals are everywhere the eye can see, he also is the only director that comes to mind who can put songs into a film and not make it feel tacky. However, his style is something that I cannot see fitting into the world of Superman which is Snyder’s next project and that worries me a little.
So see Sucker Punch and enjoy the ride.
