ALL ABOUT FILM
The Princess & the Frog (2010)
Disney is back on 2D form with their latest outing surrounding the classic princess and the frog story. Tiana has always wanted to achieve her dream of running her own restaurant and when a talking frog appears, who claims to be a wealthy prince, she embarks of a BIG adventure of tiny proportions.
When I say Disney is back, they. Are. Back! This is what they’re all about 2D hand drawn beautifully woven animation, back to the good old days where every frame is a feast for the eyes and the songs are plentiful. The Princess and the Frog is Disney doing what they do best and boy have they been missed.
Not to give too much away but the story is very solid and classic Disney, you have your love story with an evil villian bent on owning the city, and you have comical relief characters left, right and centre. The actors were wonderfully chosen and the musical score is absolutely fantastic. But don’t be completely thrown off by the return of 2D Disney although its a fun children’s film it never quite meets the same level of classicness the other Disney films like Sleeping Beauty, Beauty & The Beast and of course The Lion King brought us, however over time I could see The Princess and the Frog could hop its way to the top alongside them.
An overall magical experience and a thoroughly enjoyable one at that. Disney is back doing what they do best and this is way it should stay. No one gets bored of these kinds of Disney flicks so bring on “Rapunzel”….opps sorry I mean Tangled.
