ALL ABOUT FILM
AVATAR (2009)
Jake Sully is an ex-marine whose paralysed from the waist down. He is sent to the moon of Pandora to help move a small civilization of natives called the Na’vi from their homeland, before the guns roll in to move them for good. He falls in love with one of the natives called Neytiri and decides to fight against the humans to save his new home.
There are few words to describe how perfect this film is. It is an instant classic and a huge, huge, HUGE monument in modern film-making. It is certainly the revolution everyone has been talking about and you really do believe that you are on Pandora! It’s as close as you can get to an experience like virtual realtiy. Okay so you’re in a cinema but thats not what you feel you’re honesty drawn into the world and its biology. When the lights come up at the end you don’t want to leave. You feel rather depressed to be on this planet. A planet ruled by money and corporations and that is the genius of how James Cameron has crafted this film.
It’s not a simple film because it has so much in-depth scale and scope. They did not miss a thing, every inch of the screen is filled with something fasinating to look at even if its a plant or a computer screen. And obviously this isn’t a film all about looks, its story is very heart warming and really makes you think. There are so many feelings that come with this experience and yes that is what it is, I don’t even think I’ll call it a film because it feels so damn real! I’ve literally just got back and I’m over whelmed with emotions after AVATAR it’s a brilliant feeling. It’s odd a film can do that. Oh and it’s not only Jake who falls for Neytiri, you find yourself (or rather me and my friend Will did) falling in love with her as well, as I’m sure a lot of the men and women did in the audience.
AVATAR is one experience that cannot be missed. I’ve already planned to see it another four times over the coming week and I can’t wait to step foot back on Pandora and visit all it’s inhabitants. Go and see it as soon as you can because you need a break from you’re normal everyday life to visit a world beyond your imagination. This is the beginning of the next step in the motion picture business.
