Tron: Legacy (2010)
After his fathers disappearance Sam Flynn becomes somewhat of a loner, until he is paged by his father and enters the world of Tron.
This film is a rare gem. It’s a diverse visual event that will confuse some and wow others. Fortunately I was wowed, Tron: Legacy is a wonderfully crafted blockbuster that invites you to a place like no other. It’s visuals are outstanding and it’s story (as simple as it may be) is littered with intricate detail that brings it to life.
The cast are all great, no Oscar nominations however, but everyone pulled off their characters with believability, especially Oliva Wilde as Quorra and the amazing Jeff Bridges as Clu. Garrett Hedlund as Sam Flynn was a likeable protagonist with a charm that matched Kevin Flynn’s personality in the original Tron.
Prior to seeing Tron: Legacy I had bought the soundtrack and had given it as listen. I’m a big fan of Daft Punk and their work for this film is outstanding and unique, it married the films visuals with the music beautifully and brought the world of Tron to life, with it’s opera-techno that gave the film a real 80s vibe.
A classic blockbuster, with a journey like no other, and the perfect film to have your first IMAX experience with. Open your mind and get sucked into Tron.
