ALL ABOUT FILM
The Lion King 3D (2011 Re-release)
Simba is Mufasa’s son and longs for the day where he will rein over the African plains as the lion king. However his evil uncle Scar murders Mufasa and Simba is forced to run into exile only to learn that he must return to reclaim the throne.
This was among the first films I ever saw at the cinema and ever since that moment its been one of my personal favourite Disney films. I don’t think I’m alone here when I say whenever the name Disney is mentioned I think of The Lion King. It is a monumental film in every right.
It’s one of the most perfect family films out there and even to this day was making audiences laugh and cry from beginning to end. It was great to see parents bringing their cubs to the cinema to introduce this 90’s classic to a new generation, and from the reactions I believe they will remember this film just as my generation did when it was first released back in 1994.
In terms of the 3D I would put it up there with Avatar, Tron: Legacy and UP, it looked amazing and really added a new layer to the whole cinematic experience.
The Lion King is a triumph not only in animation but in story telling. It’s a gem and in HD 3D seemed to be even stronger than before. Hakuna Matata folks.
