ALL ABOUT FILM
Jurassic Park (2011 Re-release)
A group comprised of scientists, a mathematician and a lawyer journey to a billionaire’s private island where he has built a theme park where visitors can get face to face with living dinosaurs. After a man sabotages the park in the pursuit of money the dinosaurs are free to roam about and all hell breaks loose.
Now this is a very special review because it is about my favourite film of all time. As many know all to well I am completely obsessed with this movie, I love everything about it even down to its flaws and the fact I got to see it at the cinemas again after 18 years was absolutely amazing! So here it is my first ever (short) review of Steven Spielberg’s adventure masterpiece Jurassic Park.
I don’t want to let nostalgia take over when I write about JP but I cannot hide the fact that no other film will ever have such an impact on me as Jurassic Park did all those years ago, and what surprised me above everything else was the fact that the 2011 re-release was (to some extent) a brand new experience for me.
This is a perfect blockbuster. It combines everything a film should have and it is made with every trick in the book, which is why it has a charm to it like no other film I know. Seeing it back on the big screen was phenomenal: it was breath taking and after almost 20 years it still looks and sounds like nothing else.
And that was the one thing that stood out with the re-release was the sound. It was LOUD! I can honestly carve into stone that JP is the loudest movie I’ve ever heard and the design of the sounds was stunnning, it drew you in as much (if not better) than 3D. Every room, voice, jungle and dinosaur sounded like they were in the theatre with you. Words can’t describe how beautiful it sounded.
It also it was great to see the game changing special effects still looking absolutely mesmerising in full HD, especially during T-rex debut breakout scene and the raptors in the kitchen. It was a feast for the eyes.
A monument in film making and a perfect cinematic spectacle. Jurassic Park is without a doubt the perfect blockbuster and a film that changed my life. It has influenced my work and essentially made me the person I am today. That is why I give it this special rating and give thanks to whoever decided to re-release it. Now bring on the blu-rays!
