Titanic 3D (2012)
Titanic is a classic love story where a rich girl meets a poor boy, set aboard the maiden voyage of the doomed ship the Titanic.
As many people out there would agree this is one of the most powerful films of all time. It’s journey is a timeless and tragic adventure set across the icy waters of the North Atlantic. It’s main accomplishment are its characters. You fall in love with Jack and Rose’s story that for the first half of the movie you’re lead into a false sense of security, you start to believe everything will be okay for them. Alas this is not the case.
It’s 3D conversion is astounding and added another depth to the picture without it becoming pointless. The HD transfer was also something that stuck out, it looks and feels like a new film. I know which Blu-ray I would like when it arrives.
The special effects are still some of the best I have ever seen and with the 2012 re-release they’ve even patched up a few holes that could be seen on the video and DVD releases.
James Cameron is a genius. Titanic is a masterpiece that doesn’t let you forget it. It deserved all the praise and the awards it got back in 1997 and still does.

John Carter (2012)
John Carter is an outsider to the world around him. After being transported to Mars he meets a civilization of green barbarians and a princess who captures his broken heart.
Despite this film being a victim of CHEESE John Carter is a very, VERY fun movie. It’s a perfect popcorn flick and hands down a worthwhile watch. Right off the bat this movie is kicked into high gear and doesn’t suffer from feeling cheap. Disney have produced the first (abeit a little early) summer blockbuster for 2012.
The director of Finding Nemo and Wall-E has not produced a classic here but it goes without saying that this film should be remembered for being a gratifying piece of cinema.
However its not all perfect. John Carter piles on action sequence after action sequence without the need to. Its sad to say that you cannot take a breather, and the cheese factor is off the scale but again, there’s a charm to this that doesn’t make you hate it.
A C.G.I filled epic adventure that will leave you exiting the cinema with a smile spread across your Earth dwelling face.

War Horse (2012)
War horse tells the heart-warming tale of boy named Albert who befriends a young horse that is sent off to battle in World War I.
I haven’t seen the stage show so I didn’t know what to expect when I went to see this back at the end of February, but I wasn’t disappointed. This is a great movie. It’s a very touching story of friendship and hope that doesn’t let down the audience. Spielberg has done it again.
Obviously the main focus of War Horse is the bond between the boy Albert, and the horse Joey, Spielberg has conducted this wonderfully. You feel their friendship throughout its 2hr 16min run time and really care about whether their story will end with smiles all round. I can’t say much more than that though.
The only thing that the film failed to do was feel like one movie. Spielberg goes by the book that he wrote. He uses almost every style of film making he has ever used and at times certain scenes don’t fit together in the same movie. (If you’ve seen this, then compare the film making of the opening twenty minutes to the last five, or the trench sequences. i think you’ll know what mean.)
War Horse is a great family movie and one I’d go see again in an instant.
